Craft the World Challenge: June--Blackwork Embroidery
There is a wonderful craft blog by Adelle, and she is hosting a year long challenge called Craft the World. Each month there is a new theme, and participants create a craft project based on it. The theme for June was "Black and White." I've been practicing embroidering, so I thought it would be fun to try a technique I haven't tried before called blackwork embroidery. Blackwork embroidery uses black thread on a white or cream background, so I decided to embroider a design on muslin fabric and make a pouch. I wanted to practice using shading in embroidery but as I was stitching I decided to make a cluster of flowers. It was a fun project!
